New face joins the John Young team
John Young’s – the renowned interiors, furniture and antique shop in Keswick has welcomed a new member of staff. Adele McKewan joined the team this summer as Sales Consultant.
Following the recent relocation of the antiques to a dedicated first floor showroom, the John Young team has refocused the business, with more concentration on home interior furniture and furnishings in the courtyard gallery. This also created an opportunity to recruit a Sales Consultant with creativity and a flair for interiors.
Adele McKewan has a natural ability with visual merchandising. She loves working with textiles and prints and is quite at home helping customers choose the right soft furnishings and furniture. With years of retail experience, Adele has already demonstrated a good connection with customers, whether that’s a homeowner looking for a new sofa, or businesses with holiday cottages to update.
Adele runs a holiday cottage of her own, she knows only too well what needs to be taken into consideration when refurbishing holiday homes. She is also very practical so, in addition to helping you choose the right style sofas, chairs and furnishings, she can also help choose curtain fabrics – and can hang them for you too.
Reflecting on her first few weeks at John Young’s, Adele said “I’ve joined the company at an exciting time, a time of change at John Young’s, with new, more modern branding that reflects what we offer – a classic and contemporary range of furniture and furnishings. What I really appreciate is the quality of what we have in the shop and the flexibility and choice that we can offer to customers. You get a real sense of satisfaction when explaining the variety of options that can be tailored to suit their way of living and their style preferences.
Commenting on her appointment, John Young’s Shop Manager Elizabeth Weightman, said “Adele has fitted into the team very well and has already established a great understanding of what our suppliers can offer. It is the flexibility, quality and choice of design that sets us apart from most other furniture and furnishing showrooms, so there was a lot for Adele to learn. She has picked it up very quickly and has a lovely rapport with customers too.
“We’ve worked on upgrading holiday homes, fitted curtains in small cottages and have redesigned grand houses, but the best feeling is when customers come back because they loved what they’ve had from us in the past. It was important to find someone who could provide the right balance of artistic flair and professional knowledge to support our customers and in Adele, we’ve found just the right person.”
