Mention Morris & Co fabrics and wallpaper to those who know, and their minds will conjure up the geometrics, structure and colour of the art décor period and the world of William Morris.

John Young has been a supplier of Morris & Co fabrics and wallpaper for many years, with customers choosing to add Morris as an accent, or as a theme.

With a narrower focus, these Morris & Co fabrics and wallpapers have beauty and useability, and we introduce them to customers who are looking to rejuvenate existing furnishings. Initially, we use elements to bring a room up to date with a feature piece but often find customers want to take the look a stage further.

Using modern technology to rework the designs and recreate/reimagine them for this century, these traditional designs have a modern colour twist.

Morris & Co is a very grown-up style and suits older style houses that are classic but not fussy.  The designs also work well in modern homes too. The range has kept up to date with colourways. The current popularity of navy with hues of blue right through to pastels is easy to see in the Strawberry Thief design.

Morris & Co designs are at home in the Lake District and were at the heart of the Arts and Crafts Movement.  There are several large houses in the county that feature Morris designs – including Blackwell – the Arts & Crafts house at Bowness on Windermere.

The Arts and Crafts movement considers Morris as one of the most influential interior designers of his day. It’s a style that is well recognised and is as authentic today as it was when the original 19th century William Morris designs were first created.

Now part of the Sanderson group, the designs are produced under the Morris & Co brand and still crafted in their grade 2 listed UK factory which is based fairly local to us in Lancashire.
